What is the AGEC Product Sheet?

The AGEC Product Sheet of Environmental Qualities and Characteristics is a mandatory requirement under Decree 2022-748. Its objective is to provide better product information for consumers, empowering them to make more informed purchasing decisions based on the eco-credentials of products, and for waste contractors, enabling them to direct the product into the correct recycling stream and diverting it away from landfill. It must be accessible electronically, such as via a website or webpage.

Depending on the industry category, AGEC Decree 2022-748 requires companies to provide information on the environmental characteristics of products and packaging, covering:

  • Repairability
  • Sustainability
  • Re-use options
  • Use of recycled material
  • Use of renewable resources
  • Compostability (biodegradability)
  • Recyclability
  • The presence of hazardous substances
  • Traceability
  • The presence of microfibres

Who is in scope?

  • Companies with an annual turnover of more than 50million Euros and more than 25,000 units must provide free access to a product sheet by 1st Jan 2023.
  • Companies with an annual turnover of more than 20million Euros & more than 10,000 units must provide free access to a product sheet by 1st Jan 2024.
  • Companies with an annual turnover of more than 10million Euros & more than 10,000 units must provide free access to a product sheet by 1st Jan 2025.

What do companies need to do?

Companies need to ensure that a product sheet is available for all their product models in France.
The measures on the product sheet apply to both the product and its primary packaging. This information needs to be available on the same sheet.

What is the AGEC law Product Sheet Readiness Assessment service?

The AGEC Product Sheet Readiness Assessment assists companies in meeting the requirements on the AGEC Product Sheet of Environmental Qualities and Characteristics. This service offers an informative background on AGEC law, followed by tailored guidance on achieving compliance with AGEC product sheet regulations, customised to meet a company’s unique requirements.

Within this service, Eurofins will work with the brand to identify the specific information and details required for product sheets across all relevant product categories, as dictated by the legislation. The final deliverable is a presentation highlighting any compliance gaps that the brand currently faces and provides clear, actionable steps for the brand to take in order to attain full AGEC product sheet compliance.

The service is broken down into 4 steps:

  1. Introductory Meeting – During this initial meeting, Eurofins will gain an understanding of the brand’s business and product categories.
  2. Regulatory Information – In the same meeting, Eurofins will provide an overview of AGEC law and the regulatory requirements specified in the AGEC product sheet.
  3. Regulatory Assessment – Eurofins will then conduct an assessment to determine where the brands products fall within the scope of AGEC product sheet requirements, identify the necessary information to be displayed on each product category sheet, and highlight any compliance gaps.
  4. Compliance Roadmap – Eurofins will then outline tailored actions for the brand to undertake in order to achieve compliance with AGEC product sheet requirements across their applicable product categories. This output will be in the form of a powerpoint presentation.
